Gordon House – Eureka Valve

Overview

Gordon House, part of the Royal Chelsea Hospital, is an iconic London property in the much sought after SW3 postcode area. It was purchased at auction in 2012 for £75,000,000 by renowned property developers the Candy Brothers who believe that, after its refurbishment, it will be worth in the region of £250,000,000.

The new development is to be the family home of one of the brothers, Nick, and his pop star/soap star wife, Holly Valance. The 4 bedroom property will have an indoor and outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, dance studio and 60ft bowling alley.

The challenge:

Due to the size of the property, and facilities within it, the amount of waste water produced is significant and its proximity to the River Thames means that there is some flood potential. The client needed a way to protect the property from backflow caused by increased water levels as well as be able to handle the amount of outgoing waste water.

The solution:

Following in depth discussions with the Castings Services Technical Sales team the client settled for the best option which was the Saint Gobain Timesaver Eureka Anti-Flood Valve. At 300mm diameter the valve is the largest of its type and will easily handle the outward flow of waste water.

“Castings Services were as helpful and knowledgeable as always. They put forward a couple of different solutions taking in to account; time constraints, costs and the prestigious nature of the project. I could then pass these on the contractor for them to choose the option that most suited their requirements.”
