The overview:

Castings Services Ltd designed and supplied a galvanised steel, recessed, heavy duty, 5.8m x 2m clear opening, 18-part, double sealed and locked access cover and frame.

The challenge:

Water ingress into a basement area underneath the Kingsway Tunnel.

An old, recessed multi-part access cover needed replacing with a sealed unit to mitigate against water ingress into the basement.

Liverpool City Council required a multipage specification/installation document to form part of the tender package to procure a contractor to carry out the works.

The delivery timescale was tight, delivery was required just 3 weeks after the initial consultation with Castings Services.

The solution:

Castings Services Ltd designed a galvanised steel, recessed, heavy duty, 5.8m x 2m clear opening, 18-part, double sealed and locked access cover and frame.

The client specified the lids were to be infilled with concrete so tie bars were added into the base of each recessed lid to strengthen the concrete bond.

The technical team worked hard to compile a detailed a specification document, outlining specific installation instructions with dimensional thru sections of the newly designed cover and frame.

Delivery took place to a local merchant partner for onward delivery to site all within the required time frame and just 7 working days from receipt of order.
